Balance and top-ups

How the prepaid balance works: coins and networks accepted, minimum and maximum, confirmations, what happens when a payment is short or late, and refunds.

Servers are paid from a balance in US dollars that you fund in cryptocurrency. Nothing is charged automatically to anything outside that balance: no card on file, no invoice sent, no debt.

Coins and networks

CoinNetworkNote
BitcoinBitcoinon-chain only, no Lightning
MoneroMoneroprivate by default
EthereumERC-20mainnet only, no L2
TetherERC-20 · TRC-20ERC-20 or TRC-20; TRC-20 is cheaper and faster
LitecoinLitecoinnative network
TRONTRONnative network
SolanaSolananative network

The top-up page tags the cheapest, fastest and most private option for the amount you enter. Send on the network the invoice names: a token sent on another network is not seen by our processor and cannot be recovered by us.

Minimum, maximum, rate

Minimum $40 per top-up (the processor's floor, not ours), maximum $20,000 per invoice; several invoices may be open at once. The exchange rate is fixed when the invoice is created and holds for the validity window printed on it. After the window, a payment is credited at the rate of the moment it is seen.

Confirmations

The invoice page shows when the transaction is seen on the network, then how many confirmations remain, then the credit. Typical times are printed on the top-up page next to each coin; TRON and Solana usually settle in a minute or two, Bitcoin in about an hour. You can close the page: the balance updates without it.

Short, late or wrong

  • Short. An amount below the invoice is credited at its value once confirmed. Top up the difference with a new invoice.
  • Late. Credited at the rate of the day it arrives.
  • Wrong network or wrong coin. Not seen by the processor; open a ticket with the transaction hash and we will look, without promising.

Ledger

Billing lists every top-up, every term charged, every credit, with the balance after each line. The same data is in /api/v1/me.

Refunds

Unused balance is refundable to the address it came from, in the same coin, less network fees, within seven days of the request from a ticket. Rent already charged for a term is not refundable except as the SLA provides.
